The first episode of Sorority Girls sees the secret world of the sorority come to the UK. Five of America's finest Sorority Girls are here to launch Britain's first ever sorority, in Leeds. They're looking for just five female students to become the UK's first ever fully initiated Sorority Sisters. Their quest begins with 'Rush', a day when wannabe Sorority Girls must face a series of harsh interviews from the Sorority Sisters to determine who's suitable to be a provisional member of the sorority. Fifty female British university students show up to the house, but only 20 will be invited to the exclusive evening party called 'Preference', where the girls have a final chance to sway the Sorority Sisters. As the Brit girls struggle to impress with their 'hidden talents', the Sorority Sisters must reach a final decision on who will become 'Pledges' and take up the 14 places available in the house.
The 14 chosen 'Pledges' move into the house and discover it's not quite what they expected. In the middle of the night they are woken for a shock team challenge where the losers face punishments throughout the week and the risk of elimination. The girls also receive a sorority makeover - more of a make under for most of them, as they prepare for a ceremony called 'Presents' where they pledge total allegiance to the sorority in front of their friends and family. Finally, the group receive feedback from the American sisters about their peformance and behaviour. One Pledge is deemed surplus to requirements and cut from the sorority.
The competition hots up as the British girls learn all about the importance of philanthropy to Sororities and discover they must take part in a charity pie-eating contest. The Pledges are also taught the great importance of step and Glee when resident cheerleader Hannah teaches them a dance routine. The family on social probation then has to perform the routine in a surprise test at a busy Leeds nightclub. As usual, the girls' performance is then expertly evaluated by the Sisters at the Pledge Cut when one of them will lose their pearls and be kicked out of sorority house.
It's an all-American special as Amelia flies in 11 of her favourite fraternity boys from Florida to help her and the other sisters evaluate the British girls. The boys task is to encourage as much bad behaviour as possible, raid the house dressed as Roman gladiators and whisk the girls off to a toga party. The boys also announce that they'll be choosing a Fraternity Sweetheart, so the Pledges go all out to impress them. There's a particularly dramatic Pledge Cut as one of the British girls gets ratted out for some seriously unsisterly behaviour.
The wannabe Sorority Girls lend a hand to the residents of Scarborough, but one Pledge isn't feeling charitable, which puts her in danger at the weekly cut.
It's Week 6 in Britain's first Sorority House. There are 10 Brits left in the running and the American sisters each take two Pledges on special girl dates to get to know them better, but the one-to-one attention means there's nowhere to hide for the Brits. In an even more tearful than usual Pledge Cut, one Pledge dramatically storms out after allegations are made about her personal life outside the sisterhood.
It's nearly the end of the selection process and the UK pledges get to run their own Sorority rush day to show the American sisters the kind of girls they would recruit to Sigma Gamma.
It's the end of the selection process and five Sigma Gamma pledges are initiated into the UK's first ever Sorority. Who have the American sisters picked from the eight remaining people?
