Socker Slam was a melding of soccer and professional wrestling that lasted one season of four episodes in 2000. The action was an experiment to promote soccer in the United States at a time when professional soccer was yet to take hold. Socker Slam was indoor soccer played on artificial turf in an ice area. The rules included the “use of a closed fist” and a “slamball.” Players sported bike shorts and crop tops. Along with traditional yellow and red cards, occasionally, the players earned “brown cards.” Socker Slam had all the drama of professional wrestling on turf.
