Billie learns about growing up the Chinese way, where respect for State and elders is drilled into China’s next generation at a young age. She spends a day in the life of the children at a special bootcamp in the centre of China. After disobeying their parents, the children have been sent there on a nine-month course in discipline which they must pass.
Billie learns about about the Chinese approach to love, with dating bootcamps, marriage markets and even plastic surgery used to improve marriage potential.
Billie finds out about the state of the Chinese economy as she begins her journey in China’s industrial heartland, Guangzhou. She then makes her way to Hainan, a tropical island in the South China Sea, for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
