Ben Gazzara plays Richie’s dad with the cool, confident demeanor you’d expect of a man who was able to bring the Fotomat and the JCPenney to town. Still mourning the death of his henchman Tinker, he’s determined not to lose another loved one. He does, however, polish his gun with a regularity that would make Chekov proud. After a series of minor setbacks like getting turned down for a date and being forced to wear a humiliating paper hat at his restaurant job, Richie melts down in true alarmist, after-school special fashion. Not even the reassuring presence of his stoner friend Peanuts (Clint Howard, and yes, it’s plural, Peanuts) can help him and it’s only a matter of time before... well, it’s right there in the title. It’s like Reefer Madness meets The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, but with substantially more Peanuts. Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for The Death of Richie!
