Im neuesten Pokémon-Film wird Ash durch eine wundersame Kraft mit dem mysteriösen, vom Himmel gefallenen Pokémon Volcanion, welches die Menschen über alles hasst, verbunden. Da das Pokémon Ash nicht loswerden kann, setzt es die Reise in eine Stadt voller Räderwerke fort. Dort haust auch ein korrupter Minister, der eine Erfindung gestohlen hat, womit man das bereits vor 500 Jahren erschaffene Fabrikat-Pokémon Magearna erschaffen kann. Mithilfe von Magearnas Kraft will dieser Minister das vollmechanische Königreich, in dem Ash gelandet ist, übernehmen. Nun stellt sich die Frage, ob sich Ash und Volcanion zusammenreißen können, um zusammen Magearna zu retten. Es entbrennt einer der gewaltigsten Kämpfe in der ganzen Pokémon-Geschichte.
Ash and his friends encounter the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion after a blast of steam from the sky, and Ash becomes bonded to it by an unknown force. Volcanion, who hates humans, is forced to bring Ash along as it heads to the Azoth Kingdom. Volcanion is in pursuit of the artificial Mythical Pokémon Magearna, hoping to rescue it from a corrupt minister who has stolen it with the intent of using Magearna's mysterious power to conquer the kingdom of machinery. Ash and Volcanion are forced to work together to rescue Magearna.
