เป็นเรื่องราวความรักความแค้นข้ามภพชาติของ พิกุล พบรักกับหลวงราช (ขุนนางสูงศักดิ์) แต่ความรักไม่สมหวังเพราะความแตกต่างของฐานันดร และถูกขัดขวางจนเกิดโศกนาฏกรรม พิกุลต้องตายไปพร้อมกับความแค้นและความรักที่มั่นคง โดยเสียงปี่แก้วสุดท้ายของเธอนั้นเต็มไปด้วยความโศกเศร้าปัจจุบัน: ดวงวิญญาณของพิกุลวนเวียนรอคอยหลวงราชกลับมาหา
