Телесериал по одноименному роману И. Тургенева. К сорокатрехлетнему помещику Кирсанову, только что окончив университет, приезжает сын Аркадий. С ним самоуверенный молодой человек, начинающий доктор, Евгений Васильевич Базаров. Старший брат отца, Павел Петрович, и Базаров сразу же начинают ощущать взаимную антипатию.
