帰り道、バートンたちは近くの村に続く道に「大蛇を倒せた者には褒美を」と書かれた看板を見つける。村に向かい、大蛇退治を手伝う。村長によると、大蛇は底なし沼に棲んでいるというが、村人たちが沼を隠そうとしたところ、村に怪奇現象が起き始め、大蛇の姿はどこにも見当たらない。この現象に頭を悩ませる中、バートンたちはカンタという謎の少年と出会うが……。
On their way back, Burton and the others find a sign on the road leading to a nearby village that reads, “Those who can defeat the serpent will be rewarded.” The group heads to the said village to assist in defeating the serpent. According to the mayor, the serpent lives within the bottomless swamp, but when the villagers attempted to cover up the swamp, strange occurrences began happening within the village, and yet the serpent was nowhere to be seen. While wrapping their heads around this phenomenon, Burton and the group meet a mysterious young boy named Kanta…
