夜の山道を歩いていたバートンたちは、木々の間に隠れていた武装した男たちに襲われる。なんと彼らは、バートンが持っていた提灯を、夜な夜な村を襲う提灯型の妖怪と間違えていたのだ。村人たちはバートンたちに妖怪退治の協力を依頼するが、村の一人である治作は猛反対。どうやら治作にはお夏という婚約者がいたらしいのだが、そのお夏は……。
While Burton and the others walk through the mountain trail at night, the group gets ambushed by armed men hiding within the trees. Turns out, they happened to mistake the lantern Burton was holding with a lantern-shaped yokai that would invade the village every night. The villagers ask Burton’s group to help defeat the yokai, but Jisaku, a member of the village, was heavily against the request. Apparently, Jisaku had a fiancé named Onatsu, who as it turns out…
