Brooklyn bride Caroline Martino loves crystals and wants a wedding dripping with them. But David Tutera quickly realizes that her wedding doesn't have quite enough sparkle. From the lopsided centerpiece to her oversized wedding dress to a tacky reception hall, it all has to go! The two settle on diamond white theme, and begin the transformation. First, Caroline is told her bridesmaids will get new, full-length dresses. Then, it's time to replace Caroline's beloved wedding dress with a crystal laced form fitting gown. Next, our bride learns the difference between escort cards and place cards. After putting all the bridesmaids in sparkling designer shoes, David blings Caroline out with diamonds befitting a diamond white wedding. Finally, David surprises the bride with a new venue - the Palace at Somerset Park. Watch as David creates a sparkling wedding for this diamond in the rough!
Her wedding is just three weeks away, but bride Nicole's wedding is spinning out of control. Nicole's marked her wedding with all things purple, including bridesmaid dresses, an obsession with custom monograms, and trinkets, candle votives and cocktail napkins that she found on the internet. Enter David Tutera, who first changes the wedding theme to reflect the bride's Jamaican heritage. A trip to RK Bridal results in a swap of Nicole's safe and traditional gown with something more befitting of her outsize personality, as well as a party dress for her reception from the exclusive Alyce Designs. Using trimmings, David adds pizzazz to the bridesmaids' purple dresses. Later, the two take a trip to Ciao Bella, where they create a custom flavored ice cream that will become the signature dessert of the reception. David insists that the reception be held at Xchange, an ultra hip loft with the best view of New York City.
When David Tutera met Quiana Morgan for the first time, he found out that she wanted a "winter wonderland themed" wedding……in the spring! Her bouquets and wedding cake had been ordered from the local grocery store! Her wedding dress was a floor sample complete with stains and tears that made the linens from her unsuitable reception hall look clean. So with only three weeks until her big day, David set out to change everything about Quiana's wedding - including the season! It's out with the much derided turquoise bridesmaid dresses and in with unique designs tailored specifically to each girl. The floor sample dress is out, replaced by a stunning and blinged-out gown. David nixes grocery store shopping and shows his bride how special flowers make for breathtaking bouquets. David teaches Quianna about the etiquette of wedding linens and the fun of cake-tasting. Finally, David unleashes his biggest surprise, as he changes Quiana's reception venue.
Kristi Kszepka is a bride from New Egypt, New Jersey who has earned the nickname Kricket. Kricket's wedding is based around pink merlot, her favorite wine. When David Tutera meets Kricket three weeks before her big day, he is dismayed to find an assortment of unique items that she plans to display at her wedding. Ranging from fake flowers to fake leaves and fake grapes, David quickly decides that none does much to enhance her theme. As his first order of business, David replaces her unflattering pink bridesmaids' dresses with a more elegant, form-fitting design. Then, Kricket is shocked to tears when her mother arrives to help her pick out a breath-taking new gown. Once they're together, David arranges for a lesson in pairing wines and chocolates, as well as complete makeovers for the duo. Finally, Kricket arrives at her reception to find that her Radisson Hotel hall has been transformed into an Italian vineyard.
It takes a lot to shock wedding planner David Tutera, but bride Dayira Muniz is about to do just that. Three weeks before her big day, this sweets-loving bride has stocked up on candy accessories and edible decor for her candy-themed wedding. A bouquet made of lollypops, a red licorice archway and even candy centerpieces threaten to make this wedding a little too sweet. David sets out to preserve the spirit and color of this wedding, ditching Dayira's traditional dress for a sophisticated and sexy frock. He takes Dayira to renowned Cake Alchemy, where she learns about the latest wild - and colorful - trends in wedding cakes. Next, the two attend an afternoon dessert-tasting, where a pastry chef teaches them that desserts can be both fun and sophisticated. Finally, David informs Dayira that her wedding ceremony, cocktails and reception will all be held at the exclusive W Hotel in Union Square, New York. Dayira, it seems, will have a colorful, festive and sweet wedding night, after all.
David Tutera thought he had seen it all, until he met bride Lauren Masterson, whose youth, beauty and style seemingly defied her medieval-themed wedding! Soon, though, David learns that Lauren's fiancé proposed to her while dressed in full medieval body armor, and thus set the stage for a wedding that included a burning cauldron, shields, swords and crowns to wear. While David quickly disposes the electric blue bridesmaid dresses, he lets Lauren hold on to her enchanting wedding gown and, even better, treats her to a gorgeous new reception dress! Then, the two take off to Central Park, where a photographer is waiting to take pictures of Lauren and her fiancé, Christopher, in front of a castle. Next, David teams up with a family friend of the couple to design fabulous centerpieces worthy of a princess. Finally, David overhauls the reception space to create an enchanted forest, complete with fireworks for his bride and guests.
A "Mummer Parade" is a colorful, costumed celebration that occurs every New Year's Day in Philadelphia. It also happens to be the theme of bride Jamie Ferris' wedding. Once David accepts Jamie's outlandish taste in feathers and fanfare, he disposes of her bouquets and centerpieces, as well as the hall adjacent to the firehouse where Jamie is planning to hold her reception. David allows Jamie to keep her dress for the ceremony, but insists on new reception dresses for her and her bridesmaids. Next, David and Jamie take a trip to the Audrey Lounge, where they unwind with exotic drinks and try to decide on a signature wedding cocktail. After that, the two attend a formal food tasting, and David informs Jamie that her venue has been moved to an awe-inspiring location. Finally, a live performance featuring a band of Mummers brings some very appropriate wedding-day cheer.
If there's one color that makes David Tutera's skin crawl, it's green. Naturally, he was horrified to find that his latest bride, Bernadette Davis, had infused her wedding with the colors kiwi and cream. With only three weeks before the wedding, the colors and too-small venue have to go, even as David remains determined to transform his bride into the African Queen of which she dreams. Working off just a picture of the bride's frumpy dress was enough for David to bring Bernadette to Bridal Reflections and place her in a gown that has her glowing. While there, the bridesmaids' gowns are swapped out in favor of tribal wraps supplied by Weavers. Then, it's time for a makeover, as Bernadette spends the day before her wedding at Mark Garrison salon receiving a pampering, new hairstyle and a beautiful new African headpiece that helps her become a better bride and a better woman.
Christina Velez had her dream wedding planned – a destination getaway with her closest family and friends watching her and her fiancé Ed Rangel exchanging vows on a beach in Mexico. Then the “swine flu” hit and all of her plans quickly changed. Since none of her guests would travel to Mexico, Christina had to create a tropical vibe in her hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey.
For her wedding, soon to be bride Noelle Kane wants to combine the simple comforts of the South with the excitement of a big city. Using her ingenuity and a glue-gun, Noelle has created bedazzled pigs, fake flowers with rhinestones and even headband accents for her bridesmaids' dresses! Even as David tries to digest this discovery, Noelle models her stained dress, bought at a yard sale and four sizes too small for her. Upon seeing the couple's backyard, which is due to house their reception, David decides that he's had enough. With just three weeks to work his magic, David replaces the garage sale gown with a drop-dead gorgeous designer dress. Next, he puts his unique spin on the tradition of "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" by adding Noelle’s mom's wedding dress to her boutique, and surprising her with new shoes, eye popping jewelry and a decorative blue hair piece. Then, David and Noelle put her glue gun to good use, creating a signature tablecloth.
Ever since she saw the movie “Sabrina,” Harlem bride Corryn Conyer has dreamt of looking like Audrey Hepburn on her wedding day. When David Tutera met Corryn just three weeks before she walked down the aisle, he realized her wedding was far from a Hollywood fairy tale. Her bridal gown lacked sophistication, her bouquets were made of sponges, and her cake was made of styrofoam! As David springs into action, his first step is to give the bride and her bridesmaids fabulous retro dresses and show stopping gowns that would make even Audrey Hepburn jealous. Next, David surprises his bride by replacing her fake engagement ring with a spectacular diamond ring. Just when Corryn thought David couldn’t do any more for her, he announces that her wedding will be moved to Twenty Four Fifth, a ballroom in what used to be the Fifth Hotel in New York City.
Living in Bear, Delaware is nothing like living in New York City, but that hasn’t stopped David Tutera’s latest bride, Varneka Edwards, from trying to bring the Big Apple to town on her wedding day. Added to that is Varneka’s obsession with the color gold. When David finally sits down with his bride, he doesn’t know where to begin… she has gold centerpieces, gold tablecloths, even gold nuggets that she doesn’t know what to do with… and, of course, one of her bridesmaid’s dresses has gold in it. It’s time for David to start the much needed changes. Varneka’s wedding dress is ideal for the ceremony, but David’s bringing New York to Delaware so he really steps it up with a staggering reception dress from his David Tutera by Faviana line. And there’s more… the day of the wedding; he’s planning on surprising Varneka with a change out dress for a lounge party he’ll create. Then David and Varneka sample tasty Korbel Champagne based cocktails ideal for toasting on her wedding night.
