During the Nordic Ski World Championship, hundreds of thousands of people visited the area in Holmekollen. Most of them used Holmenkollbanen to get out in the fields and to the stadium. When Holmenkollbanen was opened in 1898, it was Norway's first suburban railway. Today it is part of Oslo's metro system and transports residents and tourists to Holmenkollen and Frognerseteren. The recordings were made before the female 30km ski run.
