Auditions for the Top 50 home cooks reach a dramatic conclusion as the final aprons are handed out. The cooks enter their first challenge, a Stress Test, where they must prepare a stunning chicken dish with very limited access to equipment. After a dramatic round of tasting, the judges choose the final group of home cooks moving forward to the MasterChef Canada kitchen.
Eight MasterChef Canada home cooks – the remaining seven plus the home cook that emerges as the Redemption winner – gather for an off-site Team Challenge in Kleinburg, Ont., at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, home to the iconic Group of Seven. The teams are tasked with preparing a tasting menu for seven esteemed recipients of the Order of Canada, including Marc Kielburger, co-founder of international youth charity Free The Children; and renowned Canadian television icon, CTV News Special Correspondent Lloyd Robertson. After consulting the distinguished dinner guests, the MasterChef Canada Judges determine the winning team. The losing home cooks face a Pressure Test, and potential elimination.
The remaining home cooks are faced with making a safe choice or a risky decision in this week’s Mystery Box Challenge, and one home cook’s choice may pay off in a big way by earning them an advantage in the Elimination Challenge. Then, Chef Alvin presents a pantry of extravagant Asian ingredients that ends at least one home cook’s time in the Masterchef Canada kitchen.
