A colossal project that has ended up better than I could have hoped. Starting with the origins of the pavilion in the mid 1980s see how it developed through concept art and plans in a full concept and construction section. See the layout of the pavilion and how multiple ride vehicles run at the same time, how the pavilion was built, and how the interior sets and props fit in. Following the grand opening take a look at changes made over the years, including the original preshow shot in full in source like quality and the original and 2014 finale films also in source like quality. Then take a full tour of the TCM sponsored pavilion, shot in full HD for the highest quality. Look around the exterior, the window displays and the courtyard. Walk the queue taking in all the decor and display details. See highlights of the new preshow - shot on tripod - as Robert Osborne introduces each movie genre, then take your seat for a full 36 minute ride, shot from multiple simultaneous HD angles for every detail, every show scene in full and for complete coverage and with excellent low light footage too. Both hold-up show scenes are also covered in full from multiple simultaneous angles, and finally the new finale movie is shown in full from start to finish in source like quality. Add to this possibly the most complex multi track stereo audio mix I've attempted to date. Audio is almost exclusively source or induction for the best possible quality of every audio detail, effect, score and narration. A mammoth 83 minutes long. Enjoy!
In a change to the scheduled program, and with the sad news that DLP has closed again, I thought this may be of interest. In September 2020 we were fortunate to be able to stay for 3 nights at Newport Bay and have 4 days in the parks. I didn’t intend to release this video at first, but I feel it’s a way to show support to the cast and the resort, and show how safe is was. Part trip video, part Disneyland Paris tour, take in Newport Bay, Disney Village and both parks including highlight edits of virtually every open attraction. Shot in 4K and with plenty of source audio, this I feel is a surreal snapshot of what was at times a beautiful but virtually empty park. We were also lucky to experience the first morning of what turned out to be a curtailed Halloween season. I hope you enjoy this 2 hour DLP tour extravaganza.
A huge edit, in the making for nearly a year, of one of Disney’s most advanced attractions. See the origins of Star Wars expansion in Orlando, how the land developed, and the development of the attraction. Follow the ride from entrance to exit in an animated hi resolution and highly detailed plan, how it works, and how it was built. Next walk into Orlando’s Batuu and walk an empty standby line before a multi angle preshow one, then board your transport for a multi angle, multi picture preshow two ride. Take in the destroyers hanger and interior, experience preshow three and then board your ride vehicle for a multi angle, full ride offering viewpoints from both vehicles. Exit the attraction and see the area - and ride changes - at night and then compare both ride vehicles viewpoints in a synchronized split screen ride through. All video was shot in HD or 4K and audio is a huge live / clean / source quality mix. Given the events of 2020, this edit would not have been possible without the help and generosity of the following to whom I am extremely grateful:
A re edit I’ve wanted to do for a while. Go back to 1982 and follow the history of Carnaval de Lumiere then New World Fantasy, then take a detailed look at Laserphonic Fantasy. This is followed by a look at the changes made in 1988, and then the whole original IllumiNations show, shot from multiple angles with a source score / live ambiance audio mix. Video is of its vintage, but I’ve done some cleaning up and enhancements to improve the quality.
Following on from last months illumiNations, here are both versions of Walt Disney Worlds 25th anniversary show. Each show features multi angle video and a source score / live pyro audio mix. Video is of its vintage but I’ve cleaned it up somewhat.
Shot in 4K from multiple angles for all the details, here is the lavish Parisian version of the ride. Don’t let the music put you off - this is a new full source mix of the gorgeous re-recorded and orchestrated Paris soundtrack. Also included is the clock show and a ride through on the Railroad.
The start of an 8 part Thunder Mountain / Pirates of the Caribbean series. See the origins of the ride, how it jumped the queue and was squeezed into Anaheim, it’s design and layout, then take a full, shot in 4K, walk of the queue and multi angle ride in both daytime and night. Audio is a new source and clean live mix.
Continuing my new series, see why Orlando got Big Thundermountain, how the design was changed from Anaheim, and how it was built. Then see the major changes made over the years and then take a full tour of the interactive queue and a multi angle full ride through. Take in the mountain from various angles, the Riverboat and the railroad, take a ride at night and then see how Tokyo’s version was designed, the changes made for it and also take a ride on that version too. Phew!
The last in this series covering all 4 Thunder Mountains. See the origins of the Parisian version, why it was built where it was and how it ties into the backstory of Frontierland. Follow its design, how it varies from previous versions, and construction. Next see why many consider this the best version of the attraction in a full, multi angle shot in 4K tour of Frontierland, the queue line and the ride itself. Since they are closely linked and the mountain is visible from her, next take a highlights tour on the Molly Brown to see the mountain from all angles, then after sundown take a night ride on Thunder Mountain too. Audio is a clean live / source audio mix.
The first of a five part series looking in detail at each Pirates of the Caribbean attractions worldwide. Like my Big Thunder Mountain series I’m aiming to show the similarities and differences between each. Starting with Walt’s idea for a walk through waxwork exhibit, see how the project developed into the lavish ride through. See how the attraction was designed and built, how it’s laid out, and major changes over the years. Next take a shot in 4K, full multi angle trip into, through, and out of the ride. After exiting take a look inside the Blue Bayou restaurant and as a bonus a tour of New Orleans Square. Audio is a source / clean live mix.
Continuing this series, start by taking an in depth look the history of the Orlando version of this attraction, how and why it was built, how it was designed and laid out, how it differs from Anaheim and a look at the major changes made since 1973 including the original treasure room scene in full. Next take a walk into Adventureland for a complete tour of the attraction including both queues in full and a full multi angle ride through including each scene in full, followed by a tour of Caribbean Plaza. I was gifted 70 gig of 4K footage mainly shot in 2017 that I could use so long as I released it in 4K, so as well a 1080p version this is my first edit also in 4K. Audio is a source / clean live mix leaning more towards full source. The footage was also shot in 2017 specifically to capture the original auction scene in full - as it is presented here. I’ve purposely edited this to capture the attraction as it was at that time. Part one (Anaheim) features the new auction scene with Redd in full. 60 minutes long.
Continuing this new series, see how the third version of the ride was designed and why it isn’t a clone of the Disneyland version but a hybrid of both Anaheim and Orlando. Walk into the attraction and take a full multi angle ride through with a source / clean live audio mix.
A huge project that’s been a real labour of love for me. See why the Parisian Pirates is considered by many to be the best and most lavish version of the legacy rides. Go back to the origins of the ride, how it was changed from previous versions, how and why the storyline was altered and how it was designed and laid out and built. Also take a look at all the major changes made since 1992. Then take a full, shot in 4K tour of the attraction from outside, a detailed look at the queue, and on to the lavish load dock. I took care as much as possible to make each shot appear how the ride does. Not too dark, not too bright. Experience a full, huge multi angle edit of the ride covering every detail. Similarly I’m quite proud of the all new source and clean live audio mix I’ve slaved away at. Disembark, browse the store, walk outside, then take a full tour of Captain Jacks restaurant. Jump on the steam train to see the ride from the railroad, then take a look around the expanded attraction area at dusk. This ones been a project of passion for me. I started editing it a year ago and ended up with footage from 15 rides over 2 separate trips. I hope you think it was worth it.
Finishing my mammoth edit series, here is the Shanghai version of pirates. See how the ride differs from previous versions, the ride layout, how the ride system works and then take a full multi angle ride. Audio is a new source quality mix.
Hot off the press! Only shot this week! Start off in Hotel New York - Art of Marvel to look at the holiday decorations then walk over to Disneyland Parc for a look at the amazing decorations from the entrance to the castle. As night falls cross to Walt Disney Studios for a look at the decorations there, then it’s back to Disneyland for a look at the breathtaking night time decorations. Then - Mickeys Dazzling Christmas Parade. The all new parade fantastic at night time. First, take a front row view and take in the full parade as it passes along the parade route, shot multi camera with a clean live audio mix. Follow the parade into central plaza (the hub) and see the full four stage show stop performance with Sleeping Beauty Castle as a backdrop. Next follow the parade down Main Street for a highlights showing of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. All video is still of course multi camera. Finally leave Town Square and return to Hotel New York via Disney Village to see the holiday decorations at night. Happy holidays!
Given the popularity of our DLP 2020 trip video I was considering releasing this too as a Christmas treat. A tour of the resort and both parks with a look at many attractions in the winter of 2021, and six friends meeting after several years for a big birthday celebration. Over the last week Michelle and I have both been suffering hugely from Covid. To say it’s not nice is beyond an understatement. So I’d like to show this edit not just as a tour of the parks in winter but also as a reminder to enjoy every day you can. Don’t take anything - or anyone - for granted. And please be safe. The timeframe - and testing - suggests we caught covid back in the U.K. and not at Disneyland Paris. We found DLP to be a safer environment than anywhere back home in the real world.
The last for now of my trip videos, something I’d prepared for family and friends before we caught covid and so a video that’s finished and ready to share - given the popularity of my last few trip videos I hope you enjoy this one too. In September 2021 we were lucky to enjoy 3 nights and 4 days in Disneyland Paris in the lovely autumnal weather. Take a look around the nice Hotel Cheyenne and enjoy highlights of both parks when they were relatively quiet before the winter season began.
The acclaimed new Lion King stage show in the new Frontierland theatre that is more Broadway than theme park. A stunning show shot multi angle with an enhanced source / clean live vocals audio mix. This really is an excellent show featuring wonderful visuals, costumes and make up along with an interesting re working of familiar songs with some unexpected and very welcome song choices too.
To mark the studios park 20th anniversary here is an edit that goes back to the original plans for Disney MGM Studios Europe park, takes a detailed look at them and why things changed. Take a look at the revised plans, and then go back to 2002 for a full tour of the park as it was when it opened. Plenty of multi angle video and source audio of full experiences of Armageddon, Rock n Roller Coaster and Cinemagique, plus highlights of Motors Action, The Magic of Disney Animation, Studio Production Tour, Behind the Magic tram tour, Disney Cinema Parade and Animagique. There’s also plenty of looking around the park as it was when it opened. This is also my first video where I’ve chosen to narrate as opposed to using text the history section. Call it a test. As I’ve said this could be the plan moving forward, but still using text for facts and figures - and I won’t be talking over the actual park sections or attractions.
A little something I’ve wanted to revisit for a while now. With more footage than previously, that I’ve cleaned up a little, here is a multi angle edit of EPCOT Centers 1984 to 1988 lagoon night show. Audio is a source score / live ambiance mix. Additional footage by Mike Patino, RetroWDW, Steve W and Theme Park Vistas - used with my thanks.
From 2019, the interim Epcot night show. With video from multiple angles and a source score / live pyro audio mix this is the original version of the show.
Shot in 4K, this is the full submarine attraction at Disneyland. Walk the queue, wait for your sub to arrive, climb aboard and then experience the whole ride with a split screen to see out of both sides of the submarine simultaneously and in sync. Audio is a source / induction mix.
The current WDSP Tower of Terror with its 3 new expanded stories. Installed just before the covid lockdown, the Paris Tower of Terror was reimagined and plussed to take the classic Twilight Zone theme and backstory even further. Explore the hotel gardens and the inside, see the full preshow, both floors of the boiler room, then take a ride on each of the new ride profiles and see each of the new stories in full. The on ride photography ban was not broken in making this video.
