Husband-and-wife Sakura Odashima (Misako Tanaka) and Sakichi (Fumiyo Kohinata) are not as happy as can be. Sakura feels restrained by Sakichi's imposition for her to be the perfect wife, and bludgeons him to death. Sakura reports her husband's murder after she returns from shopping to create an alibi, which the police believe an ardent fan was trying to steal Sakichii's now missing trophy. Furuhata however, suspects Sakura's alibi is sketchy when he notices something amiss with Sakichi's mapo tofu.
囲碁の女流棋士・小田嶋さくら（田中美佐子）の夫は同じく棋士の佐吉（小日向文世）。さくらを異常なほどに束縛し、完璧な妻であることを望んだ佐吉が、彼女のテレビ出演まで止めさせようとしていたため、ある日さくらは、自宅で佐吉を懐中電灯で撲殺する。さくらは買い物から帰ってきたら佐吉が何者かによって殺されていたと警察に通報。西園寺は佐吉のトロフィーがなくなっていたことなどから、トロフィーを盗もうとした佐吉の熱狂的なファンによる仕業と断定。しかし古畑は几帳面で料理も得意なはずの佐吉が作ったという麻婆豆腐が美味しくないことに気づき、大雑把なさくらがアリバイ工作のために作ったのではないかと疑う。
