25 year old Aaron Hughes lives with his parents in Warrington. He’s failed to get a job since leaving university and his ex-girlfriend Phoebe is about to marry his brother. Life’s not panning out the way he’d hoped. After he meets Julie Ranmore, a married mum of two, he finds his life changing.
Aaron and Julie have began a passionate affair and they begin seeing one another in secret. AfterJulie’s friend Angela, the hotel receptionist, finds out about the affair, she helps them conduct it at work. After they are nearly caught by another member of hotel staff, it’s a wake-up call for Juliewho realises that her family is at stake.
Everybody is left feeling from the confrontation in the breakfast room. Julie attempts to to apologise to her family, but they won’t listen and it’s clear she’s not welcome any more. Aaron argues with his father, who is not happy that he has thrown his job away. Angela allows Julie and Aarom to stay in her spare bedroom.
