Madeline has decided that Michael's romantic involvement with Nikita is affecting his performance, and so she sets about putting pressure on Michael to halt the relationship. Soon enough, Michael is no longer in charge of Tactical Oversight, so he loses his office, and is no longer running missions. He's replaced by Davenport, a decent guy who's now in charge of field operations. Can Michael give up all the power he's earned in Section One for Nikita? And will Nikita let him give it all up, even if he wants to? Meanwhile, a sultry operative by the name of Valerie is putting heavy moves on both Walter and Birkoff, which soon enough puts a strain on their friendship.
Madeline a décidé que la liaison de Michael avec Nikita affecte ses performances, alors elle fait pression sur lui pour qu'il y mette un terme. Cuando Nikita comienza a reconsiderar su relación romántica con Michael, Madeline convence a Operations de dar un giro brusco a las cosas entre ellos dos. Michael es descendido de su nivel cinco y degradado de líder de misión a operativo regular; incluso lo han mudado de su oficina. Nikita cree que este tratamiento esta afectando negativamente a Michael, pero él insiste en continuar asi. Sin embargo, en una misión para secuestrar a un vendedor de armas del mercado negro, el plan sale mal y Michael toma el control llevando la misión al éxito. Ahora Michael debe decidir qué significa más para él, su posición en la Sección o Nikita.
Quando Nikita comincia a riconsiderare la sua relazione con Michael, Madeleine convince Operations a guidare un “hard wedge” ossia il metodo duro tra loro due. Michael viene privato del suo 5º Livello e declassato a semplice operativo sul campo, anche il suo ufficio viene assegnato ad un altro. Nikita è convinta che questo trattamento abbia effetti negativi su Michael. Quando una missione rischia di fallire, Michael interviene riprendendo il comando e dimostrando la sua superiorità portando la missione al successo.
