Dr Preeta and Srishti, daughters of Raghuveer and Sarla Arora, hurriedly board the train from Nashik to Mumbai. An upset Preeta reflects on her life in Nashik, where she had worked as a physiotherapist. Preeta recollects the birthday party of her childhood friend, Deepak, who had tried to steal a kiss from her, but she had disallowed him to kiss her. On the day of Preeta and Deepak’s engagement, an inebriated Raghuveer arrives at the house, which makes Srishti and Preeta panic.
Before her engagement to Deepak, Preeta escorts an inebriated Raghuveer safely to a room. Further, Preeta calls off her engagement to Deepak due to dowry. Raghuveer falls unconscious and is hospitalised immediately. A dying Raghuveer makes Preeta promise that she will unite with their real family in Mumbai. Srishti and Preeta reach Mumbai. Preeta ponders over Srishti and her uncertain future. Later, Preeta loses the address given by Raghuveer, which was the only link to her mother.
Preeta is upset on losing her mother’s Mumbai address. While crossing the road, Preeta is hit by the car of a famous cricketer, Karan Luthra, who arrogantly gives her cash as compensation for her accident. A rockstar, Abhishek Mehra, saves Preeta and Srishti from some goons on a deserted street. Srishti is elated to see the rockstar. Later, Abhishek decides to take Preeta and Srishti to his mother-in-law, Sarla Arora’s house as Sarla wanted to rent out her daughter, Pragya's unoccupied room.
An emotional Sarla tells Daljeet Arora, Raghuveer's mother and Daljeet, that she is longing to meet her missing daughters. Soon, Abhishek enters Sarla’s house and introduces Preeta and Srishti as Sarla’s new paying guests. When an inebriated Karan enters his house, his elder brother, Rishabh Luthra, reprimands him. Rishabh advises Karan to be serious about his cricketing career. The next morning, Preeta accidentally bumps into a poor boy, who has stolen food from Rishabh.
Preeta requests Rishabh to forgive the hungry child who has stolen his food. Soon after, Rishabh and his grandmother, Baani Luthra, visit the same hospital where Preeta is applying for a job. On spotting Dadi fake an injury caused by Dr Sonali Kulkarni, Preeta exposes her lie to Rishabh and the doctor. The posters of a model, Tanushri Mehta, in Pragya's room angers Sarla. Later, Preeta witnesses Karan insulting his girlfriend and convinces her to file a police complaint against him.
Karan sees Preeta’s molestation charge as a means to extort money for previous night’s car accident. He learns that Sanya, his girlfriend, has filed a police complaint and coaxes her to withdraw the charges. An argument between Srishti and Sarla lead to Sarla asking Preeta and Srishti to vacate her house the next morning. At the Luthra house, when Dadi complains of her aching leg, Abhishek suggests Preeta’s name as a physiotherapist to Rishabh. Later, Abhishek informs Preeta about her new job.
Preeta considers Abhishek as her saviour. The next day, Preeta’s entry at the Luthra residence leads to a lot of confusion. Elsewhere, Sarla’s servant complains that Srishti has stolen her gold ring. When Sarla searches Srishti’s luggage for the missing gold ring, she stumbles upon a photo album that reveals Preeta and Srishti are her daughters. At the Luthra residence, Preeta introduces herself to Baani as her new physiotherapist, and they both recollect their awkward incident at the hospital.
Baani and Karan convince Rishabh that Preeta is not a capable physiotherapist. Rishabh asks Preeta to resign from the job. Elsewhere, Sarla wants to share exciting news with Pragya. Sarla’s phone call is received by Pragya’s look-alike, who has been hired by Abhishek’s sister, Aliya Mehra. At night, Baani sprains her leg while stepping out of the car, and Preeta unexpectedly arrives to aid her. Seeing Preeta relieve Baani's pain, Rishabh decides to rehire Preeta, much to Baani's disappointment.
Dadi is suspicious about Pragya’s look-alike, but Sarla disagrees. At the Luthra residence, Mahesh Luthra, his wife, Rakhi Luthra, and Kareena's daughter, Kritika, return from Jaipur. Kareena, Mahesh's sister, is excited about Kritika's wedding shopping done in Jaipur. Meanwhile, Sarla allows Preeta and Srishti to prolong their stay for a month provided they pay the entire rent. Elsewhere, Rakhi mistakes Preeta to be Rishabh’s prospective bride sent by Sarita, a matchmaker.
On behalf of Rakhi, Rishabh apologises to Preeta for being misunderstood as his prospective bride. When probed by Preeta, Rishabh shares the reason for not marrying. Soon after, Baani’s mischief leads to another spat between Karan and Preeta. Srishti auditions for Shining Brand’s next advertisement with Karan. However, she is rejected for her height by Karan’s cousin, Sameer Luthra. Later, Sarla is upset as Srishti considers Sarla’s enemy, Tanushri, as her role model.
