In “'Red Snow, White Death,” Kodiak comes upon a plane crash in mountain country. Benton, the pilot, has been fatally shot and robbed of $80,000 he was transporting for the Bank of Anchorage. A witness is Abraham Lincoln Imhook, an elderly Eskimo who thinks he no longer has a reason to live and is reluctant to leave the mountain.
After the shooting of a girl's father, McKay pursues the suspect, who has forced the girl to escape with him by snowmobile.
Three youths are found shot to death and Kodiak tracks down Samson Toey and they begin the long trek to a coastal city for trial. Stryker, the father of one of the victims, and Paul, another son, and an employee, Williams, intercept Kodiak and demand the prisoner. Stryker plans to avenge his son's death in his own way. Kodiak refuses to give up his prisoner and a deadly cat-and-mouse game begins.
