Stefan Beckmann soll in Kanada die Leitung eines profitablen Ferienparks seines reichen Onkels Hans übernehmen. Stefans Frau Petra und seine beiden Kinder sind mit dem Umzug einverstanden, obwohl ihnen die Trennung von Deutschland schwer fällt. Doch alsbald stellen die Beckmanns fest, dass sie einen Schwindel aufgesessen sind. Anscheinend sind ihre kanadischen Verwandten nur daran interessiert, sie als billige Arbeitskräfte auszunützen.
