After a couple of fun days fly-fishing, we couldn't wait to get back on the water and lower some offerings into the shallows surrounding the lodge in hopes of hanging some lings, reds and halibut. To say we were not ready for what happened next is an understatement. None of us, including our guide, had ever seen fishing like this as we go bendo on the biggest lings I'd ever seen.
After dropping a couple of crab traps first thing in the morning, we headed back out to the grounds, but instead of hanging in close to the kelps and rocks, we looked for the hard bottom and were rewarded with some of the nicest halibut I'd ever seen in my life, as every bait that hit the bottom got inhaled. This is about as good as it gets fishing the flatties.
