At HPA today Andre talks about replacing our factory rods with Brian Crower replacements and FA20 and bearing clearances in our White GT86. Next up is an update on the 13b powered FD RX7 Turblown cast 347 stainless exhaust manifold, external wastegates and EGT sensors. Traditionally turbo manifolds are welded and are prone to cracking due to the high temperatures they operate at. When these fabricated manifolds crack it’s always at a weld so the investment casting process removes a major weak link. Casting also allows a lot of flexibility in the manifold runner shape and in this case a smooth and gradual taper is incorporated from the exhaust port to the split pulse T4 flange. This manifold will be coupled with a BorgWarner EFR8474 Lastly the V8 Toyota 86 oil cooler and aftermarket diff cover solutions are covered. We had engine cooling issues particularly when in 'dirty' air on the track or stuck behind a safety car that have hopefully been put to bed along with the diff overheating after 20 minutes of race driving. A Cusco billet rear cover has been added to increase capacity and cooling efficiencies and with the addition of and external pump and oil cooler the team is hoping it will last the distance for the endurance racing the car will see this year.
