It is difficult for independent journalists to operate in such situations, but French journalist Nicolas Henin decided to enter Raqqa after militants seized it from Syrian government forces in 2013. He was captured by IS fighters and held for ten months along with others, some of whom were killed. What did he learn about the mindset of ISIS militants?
