生存か。消滅か。 流拓馬（cv内田雄馬）と山岸獏（cv寸石和弘）は、埋立地のゴミの山の上に立っていた。 目の前には、上空から墜落したロボット＝ゲッターD2の機体がある。 世界は荒廃していた。 19年前――。世界は強大な敵の襲撃を受け、主要都市は壊滅状態に陥ってしまう。各国は戦力をシベリアに集結させ、敵との決戦に挑んだ。流竜馬たちの乗るゲッターロボもその中にあった。この〝シベリア戦線〟の終結で世界は救われたはずだった。だが――。 日本、現在。浅間山麓にある早乙女研究所の指令室で、神隼人（cv内田直哉）は戦況を見つめていた。新たなる敵との戦いが密かに続けられていたのだ。その隼人のもとに報告が入る。墜落したゲッターD2が動き出したのだ。モニターに映った見知らぬ若者は「流拓馬」と名乗る。あの時、ゲッターロボとともに決戦に向かった流竜馬の息子だった。拓馬は、ゲッターD2を一気に上空へ飛ばし、敵との交戦に入った。隼人は待機していたパイロット、カムイ・ショウ（cv向野存麿）に命じる。「ゲッターアーク、出撃！」 新たなゲッターロボ、ゲッターアークの機体が大空を切り裂いていく。 ゲッターアークの戦いは、ついに始まった。 この戦いの果てに待っているのは、生存か、消滅か――。

Ten years after the disappearance of Ryoma Nagare, Go Ichimonji and Messiah Tyr on Mars, the Saotome Institute is now under the command of Hayato Jin to train new pilots for protecting Earth against extraterrestrial threats both from within and beyond the planet. Of these individuals were Takuma Nagare, Ryoma's son; Sho Kamui, a human-dinosaur hybrid; and Baku Yamagishi, Messiah Tyr's younger brother. In the wake of the invasions between the remnants of the Dinosaur Empire and the swarm of technorganic insect-like aliens from the Andromeda Flow Country, the new Getter Team must work together to defeat both looming threats and using the new machine by the Saotome Institute: The Getter Robo Arc in order to protect humanity from its own extinction.

Notre histoire se déroule au cours du conflit contre le Pays d’Andromède, le nouvel ennemi de l’humanité qui cherche à détruire la source des rayons getter. 是由永井豪與石川賢自 1974 年起展開連載創作的作品，故事標題的機體「蓋特」，除了有著經典的三機合體設計，其動畫主題曲以及故事的熱血程度也在許多粉絲心中留下深刻的印象。作為經典的超級機器人代表機體之一，《蓋特機器人》同時也是策略遊戲《超級機器人大戰》系列的常客。

생존인가. 소멸인가. 나가레 타쿠마와 야마기시 바쿠는 매립지의 쓰레기 산 위에 서 있었다. 그들의 눈앞에는 하늘에서 추락한 로봇, 겟타 D2 기체가 있었다. 세계는 황폐해져 가고 있었다. 19년 전. 세계는 강력한 적의 공격을 받아 주요 도시들이 괴멸 상태에 빠져버리고 말았다. 각국은 전력을 시베리아에 집중시켜 적과의 결전에 임했다. 나가레 료마 일행이 탄 겟타 로보도 그 가운데에 있었다. 이 '시베리아 전선'의 종결로 인해 세계는 구원받아야 했을 터였다. 하지만... 다시 현재의 일본. 아사마산에 있는 사오토메 연구소에서 진 하야토는 전황을 주시하고 있었다. 새로운 적들과의 싸움이 남모르게 계속되고 있는 상황 속에서, 하야토에게 보고가 들어왔다. 추락한 겟타 D2가 다시 움직였다는 것이었는데, 모니터에 비친 낯선 젊은이는 자신은 나가레 타쿠마라고 말했다. 그때, 겟타 로보와 함께 결전에 임했던 나가레 료마의 아들이었다. 타쿠마는 겟타 D2를 타고 단숨에 상공으로 날아올라 적과의 교전에 들어갔다. 하야토는 대기시켜놓고 있었던 파일럿인 카무이 쇼에게 명령했다. 겟타 아크, 출격! 새로운 겟타 로보, 겟타 아크의 기체가 하늘을 가르며 날아올랐다. 겟타 아크의 싸움은 드디어 시작되었다. 이 싸움의 끝에서 기다리고 있는 건, 생존인가. 소멸인가.

Sono passati 19 anni dalla guerra di Siberia e il mondo sta cercando ancora di riprendersi, ma una nuova minaccia intergalattica si prospetta all'orizzonte per il Getter Robo e il laboratorio Saotome. Proprio mentre stanno affrontando un nuovo nemico, Takuma si presenta alle pendici del monte Asama insieme al suo amico Baku in cerca di risposte da Hayato, ora comandante al laboratorio Saotome.

Getter Robo Arc é a quinta série Getter Robo cronologicamente. Ocorrendo vários anos após Getter Robo Go, a Terra é agora um mundo pós-apocalíptico. Hayato, agora um cientista idoso, concluiu a obra-prima do Professor Saotome, Getter Robo Arc. Entre os pilotos estão o filho de Ryoma, Takuma, o humano-dinossauro Kamui, e o irmão mais novo de Tayel, Baku. Junto com o Império Dinossauro reformado, eles lutam contra os insetóides da terra de Andromeda que os ataca através do tempo-espaço.
