Nine teenagers and a 10-year-old boy are planning on having a school trip they will never forget. However, they get more than they bargained for when their plane crashes and they end up stuck on an island with nothing but canned food, an airplane, and each other.
When Nathan and Daley fight over who should be the leader of their group, Nathan tries to light a signal fire, while Daley looks for a suitable campsite. Meanwhile, the pilot and three of the kids decide to search the island.
Daley & Nathan are still campaigning to be the group leader, but when the kids use a secret ballot, the majority of votes goes to neither Daley or Nathan.
Even though Jackson has been chosen leader, he refuses to accept it. Meanwhile, Daley and Eric continue to search for a source of fresh water to drink; Nathan tries to create a device that will gather water from the air.
With the camping food running out, Nathan, Daley, and Lex have to find food out in the jungle. Meanwhile, Jackson tries to help out by catching fish and Eric fakes an injury in order to not have to help out at all.

Nathan and Daley nearly get into a fight with Jackson. Meanwhile, to try and bring the survivors together, Lex builds an obstacle course and challenges the others to a competition.
Nathan and Eric discover a distress message that leads them to believe that there is someone else on the island.
A recently rescued Abby finds that much has changed since the crash, making it hard to fit in with the other survivors.
All the castaways have been making video diaries to document their personal feelings about the trip and each other. After waking one morning, they find that the tapes have been stolen, and they all worry that their secrets will be exposed.
Jackson ends up leaving the survivors after a shocking secret about him is revealed, and he decides to travel across the island on his own. However, what he does not know is that a giant monsoon is coming to the island.
The kids have to work together and rebuild their shelter after a tropical storm hits.
After Eric discovers a mysterious box that can't be opened, the castaways fantasize about what might be in it.
Eric and Taylor create many conspiracy theories involving Nathan, Daley and Melissa. When confronted, Melissa accidentally reveals that Nathan is in love with Daley.
Eric is to blame when their only source of fire, Jackson's lighter, breaks. Meanwhile, a lizard makes itself at home in the castaways' tent.
The kids must jump into action when the airplane wreckage washes back on shore and traps Nathan underneath it.
The kids decide to convert the plane wreckage into a new shelter.
With hopes for a better chance of survival, the castaways attempt to move the plane wreckage off the beach and head for higher ground.
Trying to raise everyone's spirits, Taylor creates an imaginary holiday called "Chilloween" while Nathan tries to show his love for Daley by making her a bracelet.

After Eric discovers that there is a current in the ocean around the island, the castaways decide to build a raft. The next morning, Daley and Nathan set sail West trying to head for Asia but disaster strikes.
After Abby left the camp, she tried searching for Ian, Jory and Captain Russell, but got really lost instead and later returns to the camp.
Lex finds a chicken on the island and figures that someone must have brought it to the island. Meanwhile, Abby returns to the camp having not found any sign of the others.
The kids vote on whether to kill the chicken. Meanwhile, Melissa is still angry at Taylor; when Abby announces she's leaving the camp again, Eric decides to go with her.

Even without the camp's procedures, decisions must be made, which somehow works out. Back in the camp, Lex finally blames his step-sister's self-righteous errors for breaking up and refuses to listen to her anymore. Lex also questions if staying behind isn't another wrong choice, and leaves to join the expedition quartet. The others catch up, and Taylor persuades him to stay in the camp because he alone can keep their quartet ...
Nathan creates a new signal to grab the attention of passing ships. Daley sets it off when she thinks she sees a ship, but it turns out to have been a whale. After Melissa saves Eric from drowning, she starts to lose her patience with him. Finally, the group which is exploring the island spots a building. Could this warrant hope to get saved?
The expedition party finds an abandoned hotel, in ruins, with chickens. There are also the pilot, captain Russell, who became loony after an infection, presumed malaria, as well as Ian, who broke his leg, and Jory. They figure the boat he's building may be their only chance to get off to island, but only if they steal it, which plan alas goes up in smoke. back in the camp, Lex invents a brilliant signal and tells failure Daley to quit wining and try harder.
Typhoon Melissa heads for Guam, and irate captain Russel for the camp. Lex openly scolds Daley's obvious stupidity to point the light at the sky, but by pure chance a weather plane spotted the oddity on Hotel tango island. Brave Jackson and Eric arrive just in time to stop Russel vindictively destroying the camp, but soon that barely matters anymore.
