Win My MIG Welder Plus Fuel Sump How-To

One of the first problems anyone with a fast car encounters is the effect extreme acceleration has on all the subsystems powering their hot rod. The g-forces can especially wreak havoc on the fuel system. Part of the problem can be an improperly designed fuel supply, especially when using the OEM gas tank. During the holeshot the fuel inside of the tank can move away from the pickup, temporarily lowering the fuel pressure and causing the engine to run rough or stall completely. There are many solutions to maintaining fuel pressure in this situation and one of the most economical is to weld an angled fuel sump into the bottom of the steel gas tank. In this episode I'll reveal the methods and tools I use to do the job, including how I set up my own Millermatic 211 MIG/Flux Core welder to fuse the pieces of sheetmetal together without burning holes in them.
