Gut gelaunt trifft sich Ephram in New York mit Madison - nur um zu erfahren, dass Madison ein Kind von ihm bekommen und zur Adoption freigegeben hat. Zunächst ist Ephram wie betäubt, doch als er seinem Vater davon berichtet, schlagen seine Schilderungen in puren Hass auf Madison um. Andy bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als ihm zu gestehen, dass er Madison dazu aufgefordert hatte, aus Ephrams Leben zu verschwinden, ohne ihn von der Schwangerschaft in Kenntnis zu setzen. Vollkommen außer sich verlässt Ephram daraufhin das Hotel und verweigert am nächsten Tag die lang erwartete Aufnahmeprüfung an der Juilliard School.
Harold ist fest entschlossen, Bright aus dem Haus zu werfen, Rose will allerdings nicht einsehen, dass es auch für den Jungen das Beste wäre. Harold hat jedoch keine Zeit, seine Frau davon zu überzeugen, denn er wird dringend als Arzt gebraucht: Aus dem Gewehr von Bill Hammond hat sich ein Schuss gelöst, der seinen Sohn Kyle getroffen hat. Nun ist Kyle so schwer verletzt, dass er eine Leber-Teiltransplantation braucht. Bill will sich als Spender zur Verfügung stellen, doch Kyle stirbt, bevor es zur Operation kommen kann.
On the morning of his Julliard audition in New York, Ephram makes plans to meet up with Madison (guest star Sarah Lancaster) for coffee where he finds out that she was pregnant with his child. This devastating revelation causes Ephram to make decisions that will alter the course of his life. Amy tries to figure out what this will do to her and Emphram's relationship. Meanwhile, Dr. Abbott counsels a man (guest star Chris Penn) whose son may die as a result of a hunting accident.
