The Adventure of the Chinese Dog

On a fishing trip to the town of Wrightsville, Ellery and Inspector Queen are dragged into the case of the murder of a wealthy man who was whacked over the head with an ornamental dog figurine meant as a wedding gift for his daughter and worth nearly half a million dollars. It seems as though two rival candidates for sheriff want the Inspector to solve the town's first murder in decades so that they can grab the credit.

In gita per una battuta di pesca nella città di Wrightsville, Ellery Queen e l'ispettore vengono coinvolti nel caso dell'omicidio di un ricco uomo d'affari, colpito alla testa con una statuetta di cane cinese ornamentale, destinata a dono di nozze per la figlia ed un valore di quasi mezzo milioni di dollari. Uno dei due candidati rivali per la rielezione a sceriffo vuole che l'ispettore aiuti a risolvere il primo caso di omicidio della città negli ultimi decenni.
