I was born in Russia and immigrated to the United States when I was 6 years old. My parents wanted to give me and my sister a better life, and despite taking the incredible risk of moving to America without speaking a word of English, they were successful. I'll forever be grateful to my parents for what they did for us. That being said, as someone who still has family in both Russia and Ukraine, we have been struggling through a variety of emotions as so many Ukrainians and Russians suffer because of this war.
