This episode sets up Dice's home life and the goal of series - for Dice to come out of retirement and get back to playing arenas. His first step is to return to his roots, playing the Stress Factory back East. On the road we are introduced to Dice's entourage of misfits, loyal friends he's known since the old days, who often prove to be a bigger source of frustration than help as he tries to move his career forward. Ultimately, the show is a rousing success - boosting his ego. At home, his relationship with fiancé Eleanor erupts in a fight over her contact with an ex boyfriend. In the end, Dice realizes that he cares too much for her to break up over it.
Dice deals with his checkered TV past -- the CNN walk off , being banned from MTV, etc. Now he's back, interviewed on the Wendy Williams Experience and scheduled for a special on Showtime, his first televised stand-up performance in a decade. Back in LA, Dice races around prepping for the Showtime special, held up by many distractions, only to learn at the last minute that Showtime booked another comic. Dice's road back to the top is going to be tougher than he thinks.
Dice is moving to be closer to his kids, since their mom is moving to the Valley. The process of packing up the leather jackets from his heyday strikes a chord with Dice. Is he getting too out of shape to be the Diceman? Andrew's quest to look good takes him boxing with the kids and to a hair transplant consultation with Eleanor. The episode takes us to a fashion photo shoot with the Ecko-owned Complex Magazine where they try to trend-up his look.
Dice goes to New York to appear on Howard Stern's Sirius radio show for the first time in 10 years to bury the hatchet and build the heat that being a Stern regular can bring to his career. Nerves run high. In addition, Andrew meets with his literary agent about his tell-all autobiography only to hear that many publishers find it "barely literate."
All things come together, albeit in chaotic Dice-style, as his biggest concert in years comes together at the Hampton Beach Casino Arena (2,300 seat) outside of Boston. On the home front, Eleanor finally reaches her boiling point. Seeing that Dice's career is taking center stage, literally, and leaving no room for her, she decides to move out. Upset, but determined to push on, Dice is thrilled to hear that the concert sold out in 30 minutes. Artie Lange (from the Howard Stern Show) shares the bill, paying off the Stern relationship. Dice's son Max makes a brief stage appearance and the entourage is there to watch him hit a new high mark in his comeback -- everyone but Todd, who Dice sends home after a blowout fight.
