Doctor Yokoto Owada of the Beika Central Hospital wins the third place prize at a raffle. The raffle makes it his third winning of the week. When Conan returns home, he discovers that the one year supply of beer that Doctor Owada won is a lie because the draw didn't start yet. The next day, the Detective Boys find out the raffle had been fixed by a tall and slender woman posing as the doctor's wife and when walking down the streets, they overhear gossip of the doctor's other made up winnings. Following the trail of gossip, they soon find the woman responsible for the rumors named Akiko Shiina and her motive. Conan dismisses the case to trick the Detective Boys into going home, but returns at night to stop Akiko from murdering the doctor.
Le docteur Yokoto Owada de l’hôpital central de Beika remporte la troisième place lors d’un tirage au sort. Le tirage au sort en fait sa troisième victoire de la semaine. Quand Conan rentre chez lui, il découvre que l’approvisionnement d’un an de bière que le docteur Owada a gagné est un mensonge parce que le tirage au sort n’a pas encore commencé. Le lendemain, les Detective Boys découvrent que le tirage au sort a été arrangé par une femme grande et mince se faisant passer pour la femme du médecin et en marchant dans les rues, ils entendent des commérages sur les autres gains inventés par le médecin. Suivant la piste des commérages, ils trouvent bientôt la femme responsable des rumeurs nommée Akiko Shiina et de ses motifs. Conan rejette l’affaire pour inciter les Detective Boys à rentrer chez eux, mais revient la nuit pour empêcher Akiko d’assassiner le médecin.

Però en Conan i els seus amics investiguen el cas, i descobreixen que el doctor Owada té una relació excel·lent amb tots els seus pacients i coneguts. Qui pot tenir interès a perjudicar doctor Owada? Com és que una dona alta i prima s'ha fet passar per la seva dona a diversos llocs? És tan afortunat com sembla, el doctor Owada?
