Death Valley, the gateway to hell, where scorching heat, legends of treasure-filled abandoned mines and a lawless land, draws desert rats to toy on the brink of death in order to gather whatever treasures they can find to survive. Don ventures into a condemned mine in the search for riches with a Lynx tracking him from above. Rick attempts to descend 400 feet into his prized claim and runs low on oxygen. Alroy decries the poachers and vows to protect the land at any cost.
The lawless town of Darwin is on alert when Jack starts the process of re-opening one of the largest money-making mines in the region. Don must stand vigilant as looming strangers threaten the safety of his loving wife. A flash flood threatens Doug and Rick. Alroy summons tribal leaders and prepares to battle the mining operations.
The threat to Darwin is heightened as an undesirable former resident strolls back into town. Don is forced to take a drastic stand in order to secure the safety of his family. Rick finally gets the equipment he needs to get a sample of the wealth he has down at the 400-foot level. Jeff and Doug stumble on a new and more alluring legend to pursue -- the legend of the lost silver ship.
Jeff's potential million-dollar find sparks paranoia as Alroy accuses the rock hunter of stealing it off native property. Don's focus shifts to his looming DUI court case when tensions with Roadkyll are brought down to a simmer. After confirming the wealth down at the 400-foot level, Rick is struck with the loss of a dear friend and some trigger-happy obstacles.
A chilling message is sent to Roadkyll to leave town or face imminent attack. Meth-head vandals set Jack's plan of reopening the mine back by months when he comes across damages of astronomic proportions. Don worries about his legal problems and prepares to fight for his freedom.
Rick explodes in fury after allegedly being double-crossed. Don's court case arrives, and his freedom is on the line. Jeff and Doug may have just stumbled on their biggest find yet -- an abandoned turquoise mine. Decrying the poachers, Alroy is utilizing turquoise for spiritual healing purposes by creating a healing stone for his sick mother.
Rick plots his next move after a challenge to his claim and enlists the help of an unlikely ally. Jeff and Doug hire mysterious out-of-towners to help them mine a new turquoise discovery but frisk them to be sure they aren't stealing the treasures from beneath them. As the legal case against Don intensifies, he prepares Sarah for the possibility of life on the run.
Alroy prepares for the oncoming winter and in the process is faced with being encircled by a raging wildfire. Jeff and Doug feel they are closing in on the fabled sunken treasure beneath the sands of Owens Lake. Don is faced with a decision which will affect his freedom or the risk of being locked up, leaving Sarah vulnerable, exposed and alone in the desert to fend for herself.
