Ray brings Mickey to Southfork. Bobby testifies in court about the search for Jock in South America. The court declares Jock legally dead. The reading of Jock's will sets the stage for a year long battle between Bobby and J.R. for control of Ewing Oil.

J.R. se souvient alors du nom de l'homme qui a vu l'hélicoptère s'écraser, un certain Lee Evans. Il promet de le faire venir lors de l'audition. Son témoignage sera précieux à la famille Ewing. Ray ramène son cousin Mike Trotter à Southfork.
Coup de théatre : le testament déclare que le meilleur d'entre Bobby et J.R. dirigera les Pétroles Ewing. Une compétition d'un an doit en décider.
