Protecting our Coastline In this episode, we watch how the Police Coast Guard protects our coastline and territorial waters against any intrusion and cracked down on a human smuggling syndicate known as Mat Gajah in April 2009. The Coastal Security Patrol Force Since November 2008, the Police Coast Guard has set up the Coastal Security Patrol Force to enhance the sea-land interface and to maintain law and order, especially in remote parts of Singapore’s coast-line and known hotspots for illegal landings. The expansion of Police Coast Guard’s role to cover the land along the coastlines areas has provided the additional deterrence to potential perpetrators such as illegal smugglers of contraband cigarettes.
