Comic Relief has always undertaken big challenges, but none quite match the scale and endeavour of this year's - in a matter of weeks, a team led by Lenny Henry gives a full makeover to a rural health centre in Uganda. The staff say that their health centre might be the worst in Africa, and when the Comic Relief team turned up they found semi-derelict buildings, with no electricity and no running water, that were infested with rats and other vermin. Many patients were simply too scared to stay the night there. Lenny brings a stellar cast - including Richard Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, John Bishop, Steve Backshall, Greg James and Doon Mackichan - to help transform Iyolwa into a fully functioning health centre serving its community. But the real heroes are locals like Francis the doctor, Dorothy the midwife and Gonza the master builder, faced with the gargantuan task of making it all ready for Red Nose Day.
Sir Lenny Henry takes a look back at a night of comedy and fundraising in this special programme featuring the very best of Red Nose Day 2015. Sir Lenny pays a return visit to Iyolwa health clinic in Uganda to see how the money raised is dramatically changing people's lives, while John Bishop returns to Kenya and Alex Jones reports back on Comic Relief projects in the UK. Plus, there are comedy highlights including Little Britain, The Vicar of Dibley and Mr Bean.
Michaela Coel, David Baddiel, Russell Kane, Hugh Dennis, Katy Brand and Reggie Yates lead a Comic Relief convoy through east Africa along the northern corridor from Nairobi, Kenya, to Nagongera, Uganda, to deliver crucial supplies that will help projects supported by Comic Relief.
The Comic Relief charity fundraising extravaganza settles into its new home at the O2, where the hosts include Lenny Henry, Jonathan Ross, Sally Phillips, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Warwick Davis and Miranda Hart. There are live performances from Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, and Matt Berry and Catherine Tate, while Johnny Vegas and Joe Lycett take over the cooking and serving duties at a local pizza restaurant. James Corden presents an exclusive Car Pool Karaoke from LA with Take That, and the all-star cast of Love Actually fast-forward 13 years into Red Nose Day Actually. There are also exclusive treats from Mrs Brown, Alan Partridge, Peter Kay and David Walliams. Live music comes from Ed Sheeran, Rag'n'Bone Man and Emeli Sande.
It is going to be wet and wild (and probably windy) as Greg Davies bravely hosts a very special half hour of top comedy from the roof of the O2, whilst relaxing in a hot tub. Greg is joined in his tub by some very special guests, including the ladies from iconic sketch group Smack the Pony, who are reuniting after 13 years to perform together again. There is also comedy from Philomena Cunk in a Moment of Wonder, grilling Richard Curtis about Comic Relief, and an exclusive sketch from the hottest new comedy stars in This Country. Frankie Boyle and Rebecca Front star in an exclusive sketch following a group who are addicted to heckling at comedy clubs, and if that wasn't enough, we go behind the scenes to reveal how the sequel to Love Actually was made in Making Love Actually.
Graham Norton supersizes his incredibly popular chat show with a ludicrously long sofa which is filled with more star guests than ever before. Expect plenty of Graham's trademark mayhem and mirth as the guests just keep on coming throughout this very special live programme. The Kurupt FM crew join Graham to present the world premiere of their musical collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
