As Taichi gathers intel on upcoming karuta tournaments, the others are surprised when he breaks up with his girlfriend to focus on the club. Both Taichi and Yusei enter a Class B tournament in Kanazawa, but both end up failing. Meanwhile, Chihaya becomes downhearted when Haruda tells her to stop focusing on her speed, since that has been how she always played her karuta. However, Tsutomu and Kana help point out there's more to karuta than speed, and Chihaya starts to work on her flaws.
Alors que Taichi recueille des informations sur les prochains tournois de Karuta, les autres sont surpris quand il rompt avec sa petite amie pour se concentrer sur le club. Taichi et Yusei participent tous deux à un tournoi de classe B à Kanazawa, mais tous deux échouent. Pendant ce temps, Chihaya est découragée quand Haruda lui dit d'arrêter de se concentrer sur sa vitesse, car c'est ainsi qu'elle a toujours joué son karuta. Chihaya commence à travailler sur ses défauts.

太一と肉まんくんはA級への昇格を、奏ちゃんと机くんは段位取得を、そして千早は東日本予選優勝を目指して練習に励んでいた。
そんなある日、千早は原田先生に「速くとるのをやめなさい。」といわれ、自分のかるたと向き合うことに。
全國大會結束，瑞澤高中花牌社的眾人正在面對各自的課題。太一和肉包要努力進入Ａ級，小奏和小桌是要取得段位，而千早則是以東日本預賽冠軍為目標，努力的在練習。而在那當中的每一天，原田老師對千早說：「不要再一昩追求快速搶牌了。」讓千早正視自己的花牌。
