New Yorkiin sijoittuvassa draamakomediassa seurataan neljän naisen tasapainoilua työn, perheen ja ihmissuhteiden viidakossa. Pääosia esittävät Lucy Liu (Mia), Miranda Otto (Juliet), Frances O'Connor (Zoe) ja Bonnie Somerville (Caitlin). Newyorkilaisystävykset ovat uranaisia maailman huipulla, mutta menestyksellä on hintansa: kiire, kateus ja kilpailu uhkaavat jatkuvasti nelikon onnea.

Mia, Juliet, Caitlin et Zoé sont amies depuis l’université et mènent des vies trépidantes à Manhattan. Pourtant, malgré leur brillante ascension professionnelle, toutes peinent à consacrer suffisamment de temps à leurs relations sentimentales.

Zoe, Caitlin, Mia e Juliet sono quattro donne in carriera, rispettivamente una dirigente bancaria, una vicepresidente di una multinazionale di cosmetici, una manager e una amministratrice di una catena alberghiera.
