A client of Arthur's passes away and Jennifer is on her way to the reading of the will, when her Gladstone bag, containing all copies of the will, is stolen. Jennifer is in a dilemma. When the will is finally recovered, the situation is resolved - but in the meantime, Jennifer has learnt that both major beneficiaries, the deceased's son and mistress, are simply selfish, greedy ingrates. Jennifer comes up trumps in the end. Vic feels that he is being pushed into retirement by a new, over zealous inspector - a representative of the "new" police force, to which Vic no longer feels he belongs. Furthermore, his tried and true relationship with Ma Bonner, proprietor of the local pub, is broken down through a misunderstanding.
