Joe meets Ian and Eleanor Usher in Staffordshire, who have bought a large empty house which was once part of the Duke of Sutherland's estate. They plan to transform the property into a large family home, but have spent all their renovation budget on the purchase and need as much guidance as they can get. To give Ian and Eleanor tips and inspiration, Joe introduces them to a couple who have successfully renovated another Duke of Sutherland estate house - on a shoestring budget, pretty much by themselves. In the Stoke region, Joe discovers how an historic building which was part of the local beer industry is now being turned into loft-style homes. And we follow empty property officer Iain Cobby on his mission to save abandoned houses in Shepway, Kent.
