Um seine Aufnahme am Williams-College zu feiern, zieht Jamaal gutgelaunt mit seinem Bruder Amaad um die Häuser. Als die beiden sich in einem Schnapsladen mit Bier versorgen wollen, der Verkäufer aber einen Ausweis verlangt, rastet Amaad jedoch aus, zieht eine Waffe und erschießt ihn. Die Brüder fliehen, und Jamaal wendet sich Hilfe suchend an Harry, der die ehemalige Anwältin Ronnie hinzuzieht. Beide drängen darauf, dass Jamaal sich der Polizei stellt, um so eine Anklage wegen Mordes zu umgehen. Doch Jamaal ist nicht bereit, sich zu stellen, geschweige denn, seinen Bruder zu verraten.
Während Jamaal so tut, als sei nichts geschehen, verständigt Harry die Polizei, die den Jungen verhaftet. Kurz darauf erscheint Amaad in der Schule und stellt Harry zur Rede. Harry versucht ihm klar zu machen, dass er sich stellen muss, damit Jamaal nicht für seine Tat verurteilt wird, doch vergebens. Als Harry daraufhin die Polizei rufen will, kommt es zu einem Kampf, und Amaad sticht mehrfach mit einem Messer auf den Lehrer ein...
Lauren and Marilyn investigate a student who seems to be eating her own hair. Danny is discovered having sent letters home to the ""over-weight"" girls in his class after he is punched a girl who receives one of these letters. Marla goes to Steven and Scott about this issue, asking that he be fired. Meanwhile, Scott and Steven are continuing to have personality conflicts regarding leadership.
Jamal Crenshaw's brother, Amaad, murders a store clerk and soon after, Jamal confides in Harry. Harry takes it to Ronnie, a past lawyer, who believes that Jamal's best bet is to turn himself in. However, when he doesn't; Harry and Ronnie do. Later on, Amaad comes to visit Harry at Winslow High and when things get out of hand, Harry calls the police. But before he can give them any details, he is stabbed by Amaad; three times.

Marla si presenta da Scott e Steven pregandoli di prendere seri provvedimenti nei confronti di Danny, inclusa la possibilità di non riconfermarlo per l'anno successivo. Preside e Vice-Preside continuano ad avere degli scontri sul modo di gestire l'amministrazione del liceo. Il fratello di Jamaal Crenshaw, Amaad, spara ed uccide il proprietario di un negozio. Jamaal, che era presente al fatto, chiede aiuto a Harry, il quale gli consiglia di andare alla Polizia. Ma Jamaal non se la sente di denunciare il fratello. Senate chiede un consiglio legale a Ronnie, la quale è sostanzialmente del suo stesso avviso. Harry chiama la Polizia e Jamaal viene arrestato. Quella sera stessa, un arrabbiato Amaad si presenta al liceo. Harry gli consiglia di costituirsi ed alleggerire così l'accusa del fratello, ma Amaad non vuole farlo. Quando Harry prova a chiamare la Polizia, Amaad lo aggredisce e lo accoltella al petto per ben tre volte. Poi fugge, lasciando il professore in un lago di sangue.
