Saya leads a happy life with her adoptive parent, George, and brothers, Kai and Riku in Okinawa, Japan. She lost her memory and cannot remember anything beyond the past year of her life. After witnessing a creature kill a teacher at her school things automatically change. Now the monster is after her and the only one that can help her is a mysterious cellist. Saya é uma estudante que, junto com sua melhor amiga e colega de classe, Kaori Kinjo, faz parte da equipe de caça da escola.
Saya Otonashi es una joven común y corriente que vive en Japón con sus medios hermanos Kai y Riku Miyagusuku, al cuidado de su "padre" George Miyagusuku, ella padece de amnesia y no puede recordar bien su pasado (aunque tiene visiones relacionadas a ello) todo esto cambia cuando Saya es atacada en su escuela por una especie de Monstruo, en su rescate aparece un extraño personaje llamado Haji el cual parece conocer muy bien a Saya y su misterioso pasado.
