One of the original 12 apostles, Peter was present during many of the most important moments of Jesus's ministry. Peter walked on water at Jesus's bidding, denied knowing Jesus in the courtyard of the high priest, drew his sword when Jesus was arrested, and had the privilege of an individual post-resurrection appearance by Jesus. Believed to have been crucified, Peter is said to have asked to be crucified upside down because he didn't think himself worthy of dying the same way as Jesus.
