A funeral service for deceased dolls, sumo wrestlers who scare unsuspecting small children, traffic controllers with lightsabers and great turbo toilets - when ZDF Asia expert Gert Anhalt goes on a discovery tour of Japan, you have to be prepared for a lot. For example, he takes a tour of Tokyo's trendy Akihabara district, the Mecca of electronics inventors and anime fans, where tomorrow's trends are born, and he visits a tiny shop. "The Japanese actually manage to offer the range of a full-fledged department store on the sales floor of a German vegetable shop," Anhalt marvels. In general, the reporter keeps asking the question: What could Germany learn from Japan? Between gas stations and construction sites, crossroads and temples, he finds a whole range of useful and interesting suggestions.
