On Thursday 10 December, the music world once again unites for the star-studded BBC Music Awards, which will be hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton. The event takes place at Birmingham's Genting Arena from 1600-1800. BBC One, Radio 1, Radio 2 will come together for a celebration of an amazing year in music with spectacular performances and surprising collaborations from some of the biggest names in the business, hot new talent alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra. Awards on the night will include British Artist of the Year, International Artist of the Year and Song of the Year plus a special award for a BBC Introducing artist. This year there will be a new award – Live Performance of the year, which will be given to the band or artist who has delivered THE stand out live moment of 2015. Amongst performances from the biggest and most iconic names in music, a special place will be reserved for one of BBC Introducing’s hottest talents.
The BBC Music Awards returns for its third year to BBC One from 8.30pm-10pm on Monday 12 December. Live from the ExCel London, the musical extravaganza hosted by Fearne Cotton and Claudia Winkleman, with Gemma Cairney as backstage presenter, will tell the story of the past 12 months in music - with live performances from some of 2016’s best-loved artists and featuring some of the year’s best-selling songs. The entertainment extravaganza will feature stunning live performances from some of the biggest names in music, including: multi-award winning indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who have achieved platinum record sales, Top Ten singles including Number 1 hit Ruby and in 2016 released their sixth studio album Stay Together multi-platinum selling artist Craig David, whose new album Following My Intuition reached Number 1 on the Official Album Chart this year Lukas Graham, whose hit single 7 Years has catapulted the Danish ‘ghetto pop’ band to world-wide fame this year global pop sensation Zara Larsson, who enjoyed worldwide success in 2016 with hit singles Lush Life, Ain't My Fault; Tinie Tempah duet Girls Like and David Guetta duet This One's for You - which saw her perform at the UEFA EURO 2016 opening and closing ceremonies multi-platinum award winning singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé, who returned to the charts this year with hit single Hurts from her upcoming hotly anticipated second album Long Live The Angels Robbie Williams, whose 11th studio album reached Number 1 in 2016 Mercury Prize nominees The 1975, whose critically acclaimed I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It reached Number 1 in the UK and US album charts this year Robbie Williams says: “I’m really excited to be performing at the 2016 BBC Music Awards.
