Matthew, Tom and Ben enjoy their bank holiday tradition of late nights, strong cider and knock-off board games. However, their game of Propertyopoly becomes all too real when they accidentally massively overdraw on their joint account. With the banks closed till Tuesday the boys attempt to keep their unauthorised withdrawal of £5,000 from burning a hole in their collective pocket. Matthew wants to lock the money away. Tom wants to speculate. Ben wants to order a mountain of takeaway food. Rachel meanwhile has her own adventurous weekend planned. Andrew's work has arranged a murder mystery weekend and she's off to guess who done it, leaving the boys to protect the cash. The simple task of not spending money is proving too tricky for the badults. As the cash ebbs away Tom takes the advice of local bookie Aggressive Gary and turns to the gee-gees. Matthew draws up a business plan, but Ben spies an opportunity for riches in one of Tom's smellier ideas. Tensions rise and friendships unravel, eventually plunging the flat into civil war. Territory is divided, barriers erected, an aristocracy formed and peasants enslaved. All that remains is revolution. Will Rachel return in time before someone really loses their head?
When Matthew throws his sister the world's worst surprise birthday party, he realises he's got to get to know her better and show her he's a good brother. As Matthew spies on his sister in the name of 'good brother' research, Ben has his own observational study to conduct, having been enrolled on a home education insectology course. Ben bonds with his new stick insect friends who appear to be evolving in front of his very eyes. Tom's birthday party food has proved such a hit he launches his own pop up restaurant in the living room. However, the bond between the boys is tested when it transpires that Tom has an unusual secret ingredient that's transforming his dish.
Bank heists or radioactive fish dinosaurs, which theme should Tom choose for his first movie? Matthew tries to take his job more seriously at Rachael's behest, as Mr Carabine launches an Apprentice style competition amongst his interns. Meanwhile Ben's dealing with his debt problems by participating in a one-man sponsored silence. Carabine's launched an Apprentice style marketing challenge and intern Matthew's sweating under the pressure of making a spatula sexy. Rachel's sweating at the prospect of her brother embarrassing her in front of her boss. Ben's money troubles have reached tipping point and even potato-printed banknotes aren't enough to solve his financial crisis. Tom's determined to make a blockbusting movie and wants Ben to be the hero. However shooting an epic action flick is super tough when your lead actor is doing a sponsored silence, your cast don't know they're in the movie and you don't have a camera.
Upon news of her son's engagement, Tom's mum Carol leaves her job on the cruise ship to help her boy plan the big day. Except there's no engagement. It's one of the many lies Tom told to impress his mum and make her proud. It wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't said his fiancee was Matthew's sister Rachel. Matthew is outraged at the dishonesty until it transpires that he has his own romantic secrets. He has a hot American online girlfriend, Tess, but she thinks he looks like the more handsome man in Matthew's profile pic, who is actually Ben. Ben is outraged by this dishonesty until Tess turns up on the doorstep having flown over en route to Italy and looking for some real-life passion. Ben is now all too happy to play along with the charade. Before the boys can get rid of their new house guests, a distraught Rachel arrives looking for some brotherly comfort having fallen out with her boyfriend Andrew. Carol wants to hear all about the wedding between Rachel and Tom. Tess wants to get sexy with Ben, thinking he's Matthew, but the real Matthew doesn't want Ben to go through with it. Rachel wants Matthew to help her with Andrew, but Matthew's too busy dodging the advances of Tom's mum Carol and, thanks to a bamboozling drinking game, everyone is now hammered and even more confused than they were already.
Carabine wants his company to get back its cool and, with Rachel injured, it's up to Matthew to prove to his boss he's hip and happening. Ben is busy aligning his chakras, having stumbled on a meditation CD. Tom's ability to make a catchy tune on a remote control prompts him to record a dance track.
Tom, Ben and Rachel help Matthew remember what happened to a missing childhood toy.
It's the day of the big game and the pressure is on as Tom, Ben and Matthew go to extraordinary lengths to see the match. As the game kicks off, the TV in the flat explodes leading to a desperate dash around pubs, offices and old ladies' birthday parties to try and catch as much of the 90 minutes as possible.
As Tom, Ben and Matthew venture across the hall for the first time, their neighbours' perfect lifestyle seems a little too perfect to Tom who is convinced there's an evil secret lurking beneath their welcoming facade.
It's that time again. It's 'Carabine Promotions Annual Charity Fundraiser Fun Run Run for Charity.' It's a big event (and an even bigger sign) as the whole of Carabine's staff take to the country park wearing lycra to raise money for homeless people.
In an attempt to stay on jobseekers allowance, work-shy Ben seeks and accidentally secures a job as vice president of Carabine Promotions. Professional brown nose and aspiring veep Lucy is outraged at being overlooked for the position. Matthew is outraged that his lazy friend is now not only his line manager but has also decided to make Matthew his PA and dogsbody. The hardest working person this week appears to be Tom. Determined to find his fortune as a playwright, Tom is scripting a potentially award-winning play.
