Arthur and D.W. need to clean their rooms and work together to get things done quicker. However, each is fussy about what stays and what goes and how it all goes together. They eventually realize that they have not had a holiday in a while, so they attempt to make a new one, but when the others are overcome by the commercial side of holidays, Arthur has to make them realize that holidays mean more than TV specials, candy, or fireworks.
