Andy a Hetty spolu v oddělení dinosaurů Národního muzea připravují výstavu, která má ukázat dobu, v níž žil coelophysis, jeden z nejstarších dinosaurů, který lovil ve smečkách. Hatty s hrdostí vystavuje svůj nejnovější zvířecí model, rybu, o níž se ví, že ji tento predátor lovil. Andyho přemůže zvědavost, a když si Hattyinu rybu prohlíží zblízka, omylem ji upustí. Na zemi se jí okamžitě zmocní muzejní kočka Taffy a uteče s ní. Andy musí chybu napravit, a tak začíná další dobrodružství s dinosaury…
Andy travels back 220 million years to the time of coelophysis - one of the earliest dinosaurs that hunted in packs and was an expert at fishing. His mission is to find a fish to replace the one that was eaten by Taffy the cat back at the museum. Along the way he witnesses pterosaurs fishing as well as discovering that the fish he's after buries itself in the ground when the river dries up.
But, will Andy succeed in time before the museum opens?
