Haru wird von Seiji Noumi (Avatarname Dusk Taker) sowohl in der Accel World als auch in der realen Welt böse gedemütigt. Das für Haru Schlimmste ist, dass ihm Seiji sein wichtigstes Avatar-Teil entwendet – die Flügel.
Although Haru seemingly dominates the match to begin with, Seiji manages to trap him and use his Demonic Command ability to steal Haru's flight ability, leaving Haru devastated as he boasts that he won't return them until he graduates. Seiji then proceeds to win the match and takes Haru's point, reminding both him and Chiyu about the power he holds over them, forcing them to keep it a secret from Takumu and Kuroyukihime. As Haru tries to keep what happened a secret from Takumu, their friendship is put under pressure. As Haru falls into depression, uncertain about what to do, he enters another match with Ash Roller but ends up feeling useless without his wings. Taking pity on his lack of motivation, Ash takes Haru to a green place in the Accel World to meet his guardian, Sky Raker.
Sebbene Haru sembri dominare lo scontro contro Seiji, quest'ultimo alla fine riesce ad ingannarlo e a usare la sua abilità Demonic Command per rubargli le ali, lasciando Haru distrutto dato che afferma che non gliele restituirà finché non si diploma. Seiji dunque procede col vincere il match e prende i punti di Haru, ricordando sia a lui che a Chiyuri il potere che detiene su di loro e costringendoli a tenere il segreto da Takumu e Kuroyukihime. Dato che Haru prova a non dire cos'è successo a Takumu, la loro amicizia va sotto pressione. Haru cade in depressione e, incerto sul da farsi, entra in un altro scontro con Ash Roller, finendo poi per sentirsi inutile senza le sue ali. Impietositosi per la mancanza di motivazione da parte dell'avversario, Ash porta Haru nel Campo Illimitato dalla sua guardiana Sky Raker.
秘密をばらされたくなければポイントを上納し続けろ。理不尽な要求を出す能美に対戦を挑むハルユキ。彼のアバター≪ダスク・テイカー≫を追いつめるも、意外な攻撃の前に敗北を喫してしまう。その上、自分の存在のすべてとも言える能力を失い、自信すら喪失する。いつもと違うハルユキの様子に訪ねてきたタクムにも、事情を打ち明けることができないばかりか、心にもないことを口にしてしまい……。
Haru, tras perder su habilidad de vuelo y ser amenazado por Seiji, lucha por ocultar su derrota y mantener su amistad con Takumu. En medio de su desesperación, conoce a Ash, quien lo lleva a encontrarse con Sky Raker en un lugar especial del Mundo Accel, en un intento de ayudar a Haru a recuperar su motivación perdida.
