Matt muss für sein Studium ein Gespräch mit einem Therapeuten führen und hat gehörige Angst davor. Der Mann, den alle „Doc“ nennen, könnte herausfinden, dass Matt vielleicht als Arzt ungeeignet ist. Doc nimmt ihn zur Beruhigung mit in ein Café, wo er langsam seine Nervosität ablegt. Nach dem erfolgreichen Gespräch erfährt Matt, das Doc kein Arzt, sondern selbst Patient ist. Simon steht vor einem Problem: Wie erklärt er Sasha, dass sie nicht die Richtige für ihn ist, ohne sie zu verletzen? Annie hat die Lösung. Sie verbietet ihrem Sohn, sich mit Sasha zu treffen. Als die davon erfährt, besucht sie Annie und freundet bei einem Gespräch, zu Simons Unbehagen, mit seiner Mutter an. Ruthie bittet Robbie, sie nachmittags noch mal zur Schule zu fahren. Ihm ist sofort klar, dass sie irgend etwas vor ihm verbirgt. Aber Ruthie weigert sich standhaft, ihm die Wahrheit zu sagen. Statt dessen sagt sie nur, er solle ihr vertrauen, während sie heimlich eine Mitschülerin in Not mit Essen versorgt.

Matt begins to go crazy over a psychological evaluation that he is required to take for his medical-school application. Matt also notices the strange demeanor of his psychologist, which leads to a surprising twist. Meanwhile, after Ruthie gets into trouble at school for missing homeroom classes daily, she tricks Robbie into coming to talk to her principal. Simon decides he no longer wants to be together with Sasha since they have nothing in common and that she is not that intelligent, but the plan backfires on Simon. Also, Mike wants to try to be in a relationship with Lucy again, but unfortunately she turns him down since they are both on the rebound from Jeremy and Elaine. Lastly, Eric must convince a terminally ill patient to embrace life no matter what the doctors tell him.
