Eric hat eine Überraschung für die ganze Familie: Der französische Austauschschüler Guy soll für acht Wochen bei den Camdens wohnen. Richtig freuen kann sich darüber allerdings kaum jemand, denn wo soll Guy schlafen, wer soll seine Wäsche waschen, wer ihn fahren? Nur Mary und Lucy interessieren sich viel mehr dafür, wie alt Guy ist und wie er aussieht.
Der neue Mitbewohner erobert mit seinem französischen Charme sofort die ganze Familie, sorgt aber auch für einigen Trubel. Mary und Lucy streiten sich im Billardsaal um Guy, der sich derweil mit Matts Freundin Michelle unterhält. Und nachdem Simon und Ruthie eine von Guys Zigaretten geraucht haben, fühlen sie sich irgendwie ziemlich schlecht. Plötzlich sind alle gegen Guy und wollen, dass er sofort verschwindet – bis auf Eric, der auch weiterhin für die Völkerverständigung kämpft.
After Eric agrees to take in a French exchange student (Guy) as a temporary border, no one but Ruthie suspects the young man is actually a con artist. Suave and romantic, the border attracts both Mary and Lucy after he flirts with them. Simon and Ruthie get sick when they try to smoke Guy's cigarettes. Also, Guy steals Matt's date. Lastly, Eric and Annie discover e-mail and chat-rooms on Guy's laptop computer and begin a romance with each other over the internet.
