西汉元帝时，南郡姐归美女王昭君被选进宫。王昭君性格刚强、不畏权势，被人陷害而遭冷落。时值胡汉修好、单于求亲，元帝因公主年幼，要以宫中美女加封替嫁。王昭君为了民族大义，毅然请行。昭君出塞，一路艰险，她妥善化解了各种矛盾冲突，赢得了单于的信任与欢心，更赢得了草原人民的爱。
